福2014 the year of the Horse
01-21,2014

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a beautiful new year holiday.
What was your HATSU-YUME 初夢 first dream of the year?!
What was your HATSU-WARA 初笑I first laughter like ?!
I was honestly hoping that I finally might dream of Mt.Fuji this year...
( The dream of Fuji-san means the good luck though the year )
Nops, instead I dreamt that my daughter went missing in the crowd
- and woke up with cold sweat and heat beats.
What a dream!!
I put the Mt.Fuji Sumie up on the Kakejiku in my working/lesson room,
it always calms me down and relax....

As I was writing and organising my yearly plan,
I did calligraphy the horse - of course and a proverb which I thought would fit my theme for 2014.
Here is the proverb:
人間万事塞翁が馬(にんげんばんじさいおうがうま)
Joy and sorrow are today and tomorrow.
I wish you all a healthy peaceful year 2014!!
Calligraphy art works for KYUDO association
12-01,2013

Just finished the commissioned calligraphy pieces for KYUDO ( the way of Japanese Archery )
Association in Freiburg.
I have not worked with natural wood for a little while
- So I had so much pleasure to get the organic woody feeling again.
I also like the way how the Sumi ink slowly walk into the wood- solid, thick and earthy
totally opposite to that on fine calligraphy papers.
I wish I had more time to work on my own project with objects and wooden pieces....

KIKU Chrysanthemum flower, Autumn flower
10-01,2013

This hot summer went by just like a quick big wave.
Since 10 days or more - I've been missing the colour of Marigold, Yellow and Golden orange.
So I finally put the Chrysanthemum out of my Shikishi box.
Feeling a little melancholy and still having an absent mind-
Old named such a poetic word for October : the month of " Gods-absent"
Slowly surely appreciating the colour of Gods-absent.
Chrysanthemum flower word:
noble, graceful, believe me, female love, affection, torn love, true love

PAINTED POEM gallery“ MEDETAI-TAMAMONO-CELEBRATING PEARLS“
05-11,2013
this Painted Poem piece always gives me a positive shower -
colour of crimson
vigor of Tai fish
and
a reminder of thankfulness -
*
-TAI in Japanese means : Red Sea Bream, symbolizes celebration of life
-TAI in Japanese verb means : to want
So I made a word game with these double meanings.
Crimson colour also symbolizes celebration.
The calligraphy here is composed to create a feeling of firm vigorous Tai fish swimming slowly.
" you were wanted to be in this world,
your life is celebrated and cherished so do love every moment of your life "
The inspiration was :
the power of positive mindfulness / vivid lively colour of crimson / love for life

New SHO calligraphy collection for Londoners!
04-15,2013
MY SIX NEW WORKS!!!
done and off you go to London!!

Finally!!
6 new Sho works are ready for London exhibition.
I did four Zen-calligraphy inspired pieces.
The image I had in my soul and mind was.... warm solitude, inner trust & strength,
and an infinite spiritual connection with cosmos around.
And this time I made two modern Hen-Kana pieces with my own poems.
They are meant to be displayed between thick calligraphy works.
I am quite happy with the out come- and they looked good together on the wall!
All of them are done by a same big KAKIZOME calligraphy brush!!
幸〜HAPPINESS〜my painted poem gallery
03-26,2013
I have been just re-organizing my archives back to 2000 - that was when I started working on
my freshly discovered Neo-Japonism style paintings in London.
Every single day I was painting - day and night
- experimenting and working on the progress in my tiny messy but cozy atelier room.
This is one of my early Neo-Japonism art works from mountain series.
Whenever I feel
'The grass is always greener on the other side (of the fence)'
I try to remind myself of my own mantra!!
As long as they* are there*- I should be fine, shouldn't I ?!
This was my beautiful honest beginner's mind.

" Many a little makes a mickle " with HASAMI
02-22,2013
Thomas-san who lives in Heidelberg bought one of my paintings ( Chameleon! ) a few years ago
- and he has a company called HASAMI dealing with professional Japanese hair scissors in Europe.
He got inspired by my Neo-Japonism concept and interested in collaboration.
And I would be very happy to work with him in a new line of collection,
harmonizing with neo-japonism painting images....

They picked this painting which I have done on 2010
for their winter greeting cards to their clients.
I think it is a nice cool idea!! ARIGATO*
And he and his friends in Heibelberg also organized and founded an association called
KOPF HOCH JAPAN! to support and to help victim of 3.11.
They organize the benefit concerts and cultural days in order to
support the future of victims.
I would also like to take a part in benefit activities
like selling calligraphy names for the guests....

Here is also link to his company

I sincerely support those people and children of 3.11
who keeps on pulling themselves up every single day since that day.
And
I would say so loud to them that there is so many compassionate people around the world
(who Japanese media does not report!!)
they also keep concerning and supporting their future

White snakes and a happy Chinese new year!!
02-21,2013
Here comes another celebration again!
Wish you all a beautiful Chinese new year!!
Yes,-Spring will be soon with us-
( Sorry! I am little late to post those white snakes because of my bad long cold!! )

This is the calligraphy I got really inspired
by this photo - the couple of wonderful white snakes from HAKUJA shrine in Japan
and the old story of white snakes.
White snake symbolizes not only the bright prosperity but also a long healthy life.
The inspiration was :
Circling up to the infinite sky-
" HAKUJA - white snakes to the sky - "

" 山色清浄心 "
SAN SHOKU SHOU JOU SHIN
I was very much inspired by this five-script Zen word.
It means.....
: The existence of beautiful mountains is the reflection of
the pure true Buddha.
and also...
: The border of the transparent enlightenment itself
* さとりのぼり SATORI ON THE RISE *
山色清浄身
The existence of a beautiful mountain is
just the reflection of the pure Buddha in us.

Thanks very much for coming to the opening party!
Arigato!
I just display some snaps - from the performance "Ink on stone" at the party.
The character on the stone is " KIZUNA "
means a spiritual connection between people, nature and cosmos.
The stone was so rough and organic!!
It was not easy to do any calligraphy on such a surface.
So I did have to controll the brush with special angles very slowly so the ink would not drop too much.
And I must say I enjoyed so much such an intense flow of pure concentration!
The result was amazing. The rough surface creates such an interesting deep effect.
I could not help feeling the energy of the stone as well as the audience during the performance.

Children's calligraphy workshop with " DRAGON "
02-01,2012
At the weekend I was invited to give a KAKIZOME workshop
with Japanese children groups in Freiburg.
One group was with very small kids ( 2-4 years old)
and another with 5 to 9 years old.
They are either Japanese or Japanese mixed kids.
And most of them are bilingual.
As it is the year of the Dragon,
we did the Kakizome with Dragon "TATSU"
And I made an easy SUMIE of a sea dragon for small group.

RYOUHI´Flying Dragon
01-18,2012
Every year when I do Kakizome in New year,
I indulge myself to look for a word that consists of the Kanji of the year
and the meaning I like.
This year I found RYOUHI.
I immediately like the visual combination of two Kanjis, and
a moment later I was already air-brushing the Qi of those characters.
So I followed my visual sketch and practiced till I got the exact flow.
Here I come with the flying Dragon!
I guess I am going to enjoy my ride with the dragon this year!
